Description
A differential relay or protective shutdown device is a differential current circuit breaker without overcurrent protection function, which is designed to turn on, conduct and turn off current under normal operating conditions and open contacts when the differential current reaches a set value under certain conditions. It is used to protect a person from electric shock due to direct contact with live electrical equipment or when the main insulation is damaged and the current-carrying parts come into contact with the exposed conductive part. The differential relay can be used to protect against fire caused by current leakage due to worn wire insulation and poor-quality connections. It is not intended to perform overload and/or short circuit protection functions
The device is designed for use by non-specially trained people and does not require maintenance.
